Job Objective

The Assistant Director of Finance supports the Director of Finance in managing all financial operations of the hotel, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, local regulations in Uruguay, and hospitality industry standards.

The role is responsible for supervising daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring strong internal controls across the property. The Assistant Director of Finance plays a key role in ensuring that financial information is reliable, timely, and aligned with the operational objectives of the hotel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operations of the Finance Department including accounting, treasury, income audit, accounts payable and receivable.

• Ensure accounting records comply with Uruguayan accounting standards and tax regulations.

• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports in accordance with USALI (Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry).

• Support preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.

• Perform variance analysis between actual results and budgets and communicate findings to management.

• Ensure proper internal controls, segregation of duties, and compliance with financial policies.

• Support the implementation and monitoring of ERP, PMS, and POS integrations used in hotel operations.

• Assist in managing cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury operations.

• Monitor key hospitality KPIs such as RevPAR, ADR, GOPPAR, labor cost percentages, and departmental profitability.

• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure proper documentation for all financial accounts.

• Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

• Monitor payroll costs and coordinate with HR to ensure proper accounting of labor expenses.

• Oversee inventory accounting processes related to food & beverage, operating supplies, and retail outlets.

• Support CapEx tracking, fixed asset management, and depreciation schedules.

• Assist in developing SOPs, policies, and procedures for the Finance Department.

• Provide guidance and training to finance team members to support professional development.

• Collaborate with operational departments to improve financial performance and cost controls.

Requisitos

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in finance or accounting roles.

• Mandatory experience in hotel or hospitality finance operations.

• Strong knowledge of hospitality accounting practices and USALI.

• Experience with hotel ERP/PMS systems (such as Oracle Opera, Dynamics, SAP, or similar) is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of Uruguayan tax and regulatory environment is an advantage.

• Fluency in Spanish required; English proficiency strongly preferred.

Support Functions

• Support the Director of Finance in strategic financial initiatives.

• Coordinate with operations, procurement, HR, and IT departments to ensure financial compliance.

• Assist senior management with financial information required for operational decision making.

• Provide financial insight to department heads regarding cost control and profitability.

• Support pre-opening or system implementation processes if applicable.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the property as required.

• Ability to work flexible schedules when operational needs require.
