ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING
Education and Experience
● High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional field, with technical training in HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration), electrical systems, or plumbing .
● OR : Associate degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related f ields with at least 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related f ield and technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing systems .
● Languages : Proficient in English and Spanish , both written and spoken.
● Experience in managing technical teams, maintenance planning, operational supervision, and coordinating renovation or equipment procurement projects .
Technical and Managerial Skills
● Planning and management of preventive maintenance programs .
● Supervision of daily operations of the Engineering/Maintenance department .
● Oversight of the facility’s physical plant: equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems, and life safety systems .
● Ensuring equipment is maintained for optimal efficiency, safety, and performance .
● Effective management of work orders, inventory, spare parts, and supplies , minimizing downtime and optimizing cash flow.
● Implementation of new technologies, equipment, and energy-saving solutions .
● Supervision of maintenance for public areas, meeting rooms, restaurants, company vehicles, and recreational facilities .
● Selection and procurement of equipment, supplies, and furnishings , managing renovations and facility improvement projects .
Maintaining Engineering Standards
● Ensure that permits and licenses are obtained and up to date.
● Maintain regulatory compliance and safety of the facilities.
● Enforce departmental policies, standards, and procedures .
● Ensure all employees have proper equipment, supplies, and uniforms . Customer Service and Leadership
● Demonstrate leadership in hospitality and guest service excellence .
● Interact with guests to gather feedback on service and quality .
● Empower and motivate staff to deliver exceptional customer service .
● Create a positive and collaborative work environment .
Human Resources and Team Management
● Supervise staffing levels to ensure operational efficiency and achievement of financial objectives.
● Train employees on safety, fire protection, and evacuation procedures .
● Provide feedback and performance evaluation based on observed service behaviors.
● Support operational activities as needed, including coverage during absence of senior personnel .
